SCSL: A linguistic specification language for MT
نویسنده
چکیده
Nowadays, Mr systems grow to such a stze that a first specification step is necessary if we want to be able to master their developement and maintenance, for the software part as well for the linguistic part ("lingwares"). Advocating for a clean separation between linguistic tasks and programming tasks, we first introduce a specification/ implementation/ validation framework for NLP then SCSL, a language for the specification of analysis and generation modules.

From Evaluation to Specification
The central and unresolved problem in evaluation is that of providing MT performance metrics which are meaningful to potential users. The traditional transformer architecture of older MT systems, and their use as general purpose machines, results in output text of rather poor quality which is difficult to grade. More recent architectures which use explicit (rule-based) representations of lingui...

متن کاملSource-language Specification with Table Lookup and High-capacity Dictionary*
AT the present state of the art of machine translation most energy is being expended on the elaboration of schemes for the hierarchical specification of source-language texts. It is presumed that such schemes, although they graphically illustrate the law of diminishing returns, are well worth the effort they entail because they will provide the elusive acceptable translations sought by machine ...
متن کاملAn Investigation into the Use of Argument Structure and Lexical Mapping Theory for Machine Translation
Lexical Functional Grammar (LFG) has been quite widely used as the linguistic backbone for recent Machine Translation (MT) systems. The relative order-free functional structure (fstructure) in LFG is believed to provide a suitable medium for performing source-to-target language transfer in a transfer-based MT system. However, the linguistic information captured by traditional f-structure is syn...
